To ensure access to clean drinking water for the people of AlKamb, the initiative delivered a water distribution system that served over 3000 people (600 families). Provision for free medical care was also made via bi-weekly health camps.A licensed doctor was made available twice a week at a free clinic, equipped with essential medical supplies and a small laboratory for blood tests.
The project also successfully raised $10,000 for its implementation.
The Hope for Taiz project was initiated in response to the catastrophic water crisis caused by the ongoing conflict in Yemen. With 17.8 million people lacking access to safe water and sanitation services, the situation was dire like never before. It is estimated that in Taiz, 90% of the population relies on unsafe water sources, exposing them to waterborne diseases like cholera, which had already affected over 1.5 million Yemenis since 2016.
By focusing on the vulnerable AlKamb area in Taiz, which receives limited assistance due to its proximity to the conflict's front-line, Qima Foundation aimed to bring relief and a glimmer of hope to those most affected by the conflict. Under this project, we provided clean drinking water and access to basic healthcare to the affected communities, both fundamental human rights that should be accessible to all humans worldwide.
